Hula Dance Instruction Guides

Published by Hula Dance for Health

In her early years as a professional dancer, MaryLee owned and operated dance schools in Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia; teaching children and adults, tap ballet, & jazz. She spent her summers in New York studying at the Phil Black and June Taylor schools of dance. For a number of years and with a growing young family, she set dance aside, and obtained a Masters degree in Public Administration (MPA). For several years, she held positions as a Senior Policy Analyst with the Manitoba and British Columbia Provincial Governments. Soon after her retirement in 2005, MaryLee returned to dance, the language of her heart. She created Hula Dance For Health and has choreographed and taught in community centres and dance studios in Victoria, B.C. Hula Dance For Health has been sharing the enjoyment and good-will (spirit or energy) of dance, performing in hospitals, seniors centres and for community organizations in the Greater Victoria Area. She continues to study modern 'auana hula independently, travelling to Honolulu, Hawaii and in Portland, Oregon.
